Hardback: 352 Pages

Publisher: Revell (August 2, 2016)

Series: Elite Guardians (Book 2)

Blurb:

Intensity. Skill. Tenacity. The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all.

Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business. Daniel might be concerned, but he’s not convinced that a bodyguard–and a female one at that–is necessary. A new attack and his niece’s urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who’s behind the intimidation and threats–before a would-be killer strikes again.

My Review:

Lynette Eason’s latest novel, Without Warning, jumps right into action holing nothing back. This novel definitely has a lot of action, but the guessing who was behind the attacks was pretty easy to figure out. The plot wasn’t as deep as I’ve usually read from Lynette Eason, but nevertheless I still wasn’t disappointed in this book. The characters were fantastic and easy to bond with as the novel progressed. After meeting Katie, Olivia, Haley and Maddy, anyone would want to join the Elite Guardians Agency. I mean seriously, where can I sign up?

Lynette Eason’s novel also tell us that it’s okay to be angry with God, overcoming past mistakes, knowing God has a plan for us, and knowing that He welcomes us back with open arms even if we walk away. This is a novel I can definitely recommend to readers who love a good suspense novel.

Author: Mike Nappa

Paperback: 368 Pages

Series: Coffey& Hill (Book 1)

Publisher: Revell (March 1, 2016)

Blurb:

Fourteen miles east of Peachtree, Alabama, a secret is hidden.

The secret’s name is Annabel Lee.

She doesn’t know why her enigmatic uncle has stowed her deep underground in a military-style bunker. He’s left her with a few German words, a barely controlled guard dog, and a single command: “Don’t open that door for anybody, you got it? Not even me.” Miles away in Atlanta, private investigator Trudi Coffey is visited by a mysterious older man calling himself Dr. Smith. He’s been trailing a man for a decade–a man she met through her ex-partner Samuel Hill–and the trail has led him to her office. The last thing Trudi wants to do is to contact Samuel. But it will take both of them to unravel this mystery–before it’s too late.

When he was a kid, the stories of Edgar Allen Poe scared him silly. Today he owns everything Poe ever wrote. A former fiction acquisitions editor, Mike earned his MA in English literature and now writes full time.

My Review:

I’m not one to judge a book by its cover, but I took one look at the cover of this book, Annabel Lee, and I just had to read this book. This is the first time that I’ve read or heard of anything by Mike Nappa and I will be look in for more in the future.

When you start this book I suggest that you might as well forget everything else. You’ll get nothing done so, you might want to wait until all of your to-do-lists are finished. You’ll be cling to the edge of your seat until the very last page. Get ready to ask yourself so many questions!

Here are a few:

  • Why did her uncle lock her in an underground shelter?
  • Why did he instruct her not to open the door to anyone – unless they had the secret code?
  • Why is that dog so terrifying and why was it trained to be a killer?
  • Who is the mysterious and eccentric Dr. Smith and why does he keep following Trudi, Samuel, and The Mute?

Mike Nappa draws you into the plot and the live of the characters so much that even you will feel as if you are witness to all of the events. There is no way you will be able to leave this novel behind once you read the last words. I recommend you read this novel and keep a watch out for the next Coffey & Hill novel, The Raven, this fall.

Paperback: 319 Pages

Series: If I Run (Book 1)

Publisher: Zondervan (February 16, 2016)

Blurb:

CASEY KNOWS THE TRUTH. BUT IT WON’T SET HER FREE.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices: the girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

My Review:

Warning, fabulous book ahead!

Now that Y’all have all been properly warned we can continue.

Terri Blackstock has written a fantastic book that I was able to lose several hours of my day over. I’m very thankful that all of my assignments had already been finished and turned in. This book is written in first person, but don’t let this stop you from disappearing between these pages. I absolutely loved the characters the more I got to know Casey and Dylan. Terri Blackstock did a fabulous job of weaving together all the elements of this suspenseful mystery, and I cannot wait to read more about Casey when the sequel is released. Yes, people there will be more of Casey since this novel takes us right over a cliff and leaves us scrambling to know what happens next. I just know that Y’all are going to love this one!
